Control and Automation Engineer

As a Control and Automation Engineer at Ford, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our manufacturing processes. This involves coordinating and planning maintenance actions, optimizing current production processes, and coaching plants in continuous improvement, standardization, and lean concepts.

Key responsibilities include:

• Ensuring all safety standards are met during maintenance activities
• Optimizing current production processes
• Coaching plants in continuous improvement, standardization, and lean concepts
• Assisting plants in addressing equipment downtime issues
• Developing preventative/predictive maintenance practices to ensure 100% equipment uptime
• Training and education of plant personnel and leadership
• Providing input on new equipment design and purchase
• Supporting new model/equipment launch as required

You will also be responsible for leading quality-related actions that imply machine reliability improvements, being the point of contact to Plant Engineering, local vendors, and commodity suppliers regarding equipment issues, driving maintenance cost and budget control, and driving maintenance metrics within the department.

In addition, you will:

• Ensure all areas operate to FPS tools and FTPM initiatives
• Motivate teams to provide ideas to improve equipment availability and document in R&M reports
• Support and coach problem-solving activities within the department, mainly focused on Reliability and Maintainability
• Coordinate Maintenance Planning and Shutdown Planning actions within the department
• Support Work Group and Department meetings regarding equipment improvement and JPH actions
• Participate actively in JPH Roadmap reviews
• Provide technical assistance to personnel and areas where necessary
• Identify training needs for skilled employees, coordinate training plan for the department
• Work with CORA, MAXIMO, QLSCM, POSMON, and any other required system
• Coordinate skilled personnel during breakdowns to fix the issue with the minimal disturbance on production
• Ensure resources are planned during the line breaks
• Participate in interplant benchmarking exercises
• Actively participate in Simultaneous Engineering meetings, Forward Planning, and Product Design to ensure Maintainability standards are followed
