Category Development Specialist

We are seeking a Category Development Specialist to lead the growth of our entire category and elevate our sales strategy to the next level. This key role involves designing and executing winning category strategies based on data and insights, collaborating with sales, marketing, trade marketing, and other teams to drive business growth.

Key responsibilities:

• Analyze market data, POS data, and shopper insights to identify sales strategy and category growth opportunities
• Create category plans and develop key initiatives for the medium- to long-term
• Design and prepare presentations for major retailers, including category reviews and proposals
• Optimize shelf layout, assortment, pricing, and promotion strategies
• Collaborate with internal teams, including sales, marketing, BI, finance, and operations, to turn sales plans into concrete actions
• Support new product introductions and key projects
• Share knowledge and provide training to sales teams, and build proposal storytelling
• Document and disseminate successful cases and best practices

Requirements:

• At least 3 years of experience in FMCG industry (sales planning, category management, trade marketing, key accounts)
• Experience in sales planning and proposal based on data
• Excellent communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
• Native-level Japanese
• Intermediate-level English reading and writing
• Experience with purchasing data analysis
• Experience in sales planning and category proposal for retail
• Ability to logically and clearly present information
