Description
Databricks is seeking a highly skilled Senior Counsel to support our growing business with government institutions across EMEA and other international markets. Reporting to the Director, Assistant General Counsel, you will play a key role in navigating complex public sector transactions, ensuring compliance with international procurement rules, and advising on critical legal and regulatory matters in a rapidly evolving cloud and AI landscape.
Your responsibilities will include leading the negotiation and drafting of customer agreements and other transactions with government and public sector institutions across EMEA and international markets. You will also advise on procurement rules and regulations impacting public sector sales, including EU Directives and other international procurement frameworks. Additionally, you will guide compliance with international data privacy and cybersecurity regulations and standards relevant to government and public sector cloud services.
You will coordinate with our policy and compliance teams to monitor and assess changes in international laws and policies affecting cloud and AI adoption in the public sector, advising internal teams on risks and opportunities. You will also partner with sales, compliance, security, engineering, and policy teams to enable successful market entry and execution across international jurisdictions.
You will support bid protests, contract disputes, and other public sector legal matters in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
To be successful in this role, you will need a law degree and be qualified to practice in at least one jurisdiction in the EU. You will have 10+ years of legal experience with a focus on public sector transactions and government contracting across international markets. You will also have a deep understanding of global public procurement rules, international contracting practices, data privacy, and cybersecurity regulations.
You will have strong ability to work cross-functionally and navigate complex legal and regulatory environments. You will be fluent in English, French, and Italian (spoken and written), and experience transacting in Arabic is highly preferred.
