The Workflows Team The Okta Workflows team is on a mission to accelerate automation for everyone. We build the user-facing, "no-code" platform that empowers our customers to solve complex identity and business process challenges without writing a single line of code.
As the Director of Engineering for Workflows Experiences, you will be a key leader in defining the future of Identity Orchestration at Okta. You will lead, grow, and inspire the engineering teams responsible for building the entire user-facing experience of the Okta Workflows platform.
This is a high-impact, high-visibility role where you will be responsible for both strategic product direction and operational excellence, ultimately helping our customers automate everything without code.
Responsibilities
- Lead, recruit, and mentor multiple teams of engineers, architects and engineering managers, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and psychological safety.
- Partner closely with senior leaders in Product Management and Design to define a compelling product vision and execute a multi-year roadmap.
- Drive the technical strategy for the Workflows user experience, ensuring we are building a secure, scalable, reliable, and intuitive platform on modern technologies like React, Node.js, and Kubernetes.
- Own and manage the operational rhythm of your organization, establishing metrics and processes to ensure engineering excellence and predictable delivery.
- Represent your teams and strategy in senior leadership forums and company-wide reviews, translating technical progress into data-driven narratives.
- Partner with finance teams to manage budget cycles and control costs for your groups.
- Build strong relationships with other engineering leaders and stakeholders across the organisation to ensure alignment and drive complex, cross-functional projects to completion.
- Driving strategic adoption of AI tooling and automation within engineering processes to unlock velocity improvements
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience in software development, with a proven track record of leading high-performing engineering organisations, including experience managing other managers.
- A strong technical background leading teams that build both complex user interfaces (e.g., React, Typescript) and scalable backend services (e.g., Node.js).
- Experience with public cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP) and container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated success in collaborating with product and design counterparts to build and execute a long-term, customer-focused roadmap.
- Exceptional coaching and mentoring skills, with a passion for developing engineering talent at all levels.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to operate effectively in a large, globally distributed organisation

The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between: $275,000-$378,400 USD
