Description
We are looking for a skilled HGV Workshop Manager to lead our workshop operations in Manchester. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the maintenance and repair of our fleet of waste collection vehicles and equipment.
Your core responsibilities will include:
- Leading and managing the day-to-day workshop operation to ensure maximum fleet availability
- Planning and scheduling vehicle inspections, servicing and repairs in line with DVSA and Operator Licence requirements
- Driving high standards of health & safety, housekeeping and workshop compliance across all areas
- Supporting and managing workshop employees, including performance, attendance and development
- Ensuring accurate completion and control of all service, maintenance and repair documentation
- Overseeing fault diagnosis and repair work across hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems
- Building strong working relationships with operational depot teams to maintain service performance
- Delivering excellent workshop performance, productivity and downtime control across the fleet
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- A minimum Level 3 HGV NVQ or equivalent, with strong technical knowledge of HGV maintenance and repair
- A minimum 5 years workshop experience and at least 3 years in a supervisory or management position
- An HGV Licence essential, with TMCPC qualification preferred
- Proven experience maintaining vehicles and waste handling equipment to current legislative and DVSA standards
- A strong understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic and vehicle electrical systems, including fault finding and diagnostics
- Experience managing maintenance records, compliance documentation and workshop health & safety standards
