We are seeking a System Engineer to join our Emerging Technologies & Incubation (ETI) team, focusing on building out our brand-new vector database offering.
As a System Engineer, you will work with a top-notch engineering team to expand Cloudflare's capabilities, ensuring continual reliability, maintaining best-in-class performance, and implementing new features and functionality.
Responsibilities:
- Write design documents outlining solutions to specific problems
- Modify how R2 Storage processes requests
- Fix bugs in user experience rendering
- Interact with various languages and technologies, including Typescript, Go, Rust
- Own code from inception to release, delivering solutions at all layers of the software stack
Requirements:
- 5+ years experience working with distributed systems or developing on cloud platforms
- Experience managing high-volume software applications
- Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented or functional design
- Knowledge of at least one modern strongly-typed programming language, such as Go, Rust, or C++
- Strong expertise in Machine Learning, including experience with data processing and retrieval algorithms
Nice to Have:
- Familiarity with Vector Databases and associated Machine Learning Algorithms
- Experience working in low-latency real-time environments, such as game streaming or high-frequency trading
- Experience debugging, optimizing, and identifying failure modes in large-scale Linux-based distributed systems
