Description
HCI Systems Limited, part of the Prodrive group of companies, is seeking a Wiring Harness Technician to join their team in Newport, Shropshire.
The successful candidate will be responsible for building wiring harnesses on a day-to-day basis, prototyping on cars, defining crimp tooling, assembling complex wiring harnesses, coordinating with colleagues and other departments, and liaising with internal departments and customers.
The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience in a technical environment, preferably within motorsport or automotive, and hold a BTEC National Electrical Engineering qualification (or equivalent). They should be skilled in using System 25 materials, contra-helical lay-ups, automated crimping press tools, and high-voltage cable preparation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building sealed system wiring harnesses in a production environment to a high quality and in a timely manner
- Prototyping on cars and building first harnesses with minimal information
- Defining crimp tooling per contact using Crimp Pull Tester
- Assembling complex wiring harnesses for Formula One and other high-specification projects
- Coordinating deliverables with colleagues and other departments
- Managing own and team time to achieve harness delivery targets
- Liaising with internal departments and customers to integrate wiring harnesses into vehicles
- Supporting inspection as required
- Creating new designs to internal/customer requirements
- Making recommendations during builds to ensure best practice and HCI Codes of Practice are followed
