Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in Costa Mesa, California. As a key member of our organisation, you will contribute to the development of subsystems for missiles and UAVs.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, testing, and integrating electrical systems from concept to production
  • Developing air vehicle avionics systems, including flight controls, sensors, payload interfaces, power management, and networking
  • Creating system interconnect diagrams and defining wire harnesses to connect electronic equipment within the vehicle
  • Collaborating with colleagues to meet air vehicle subsystem development constraints
  • Conducting vendor surveys and evaluations to select avionics system components
  • Participating in peer-level and cross-discipline design reviews
  • Building and testing avionics system components through lab, ground, and flight tests
  • Developing low-level firmware for bring-up and test
  • Conducting root cause analysis in support of field operations

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with at least 5 years of experience in designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex board designs
  • Proficiency with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, thermal chambers, current-probes, and automation of tests
  • Familiarity with standard interfaces such as Ethernet, CAN, I2C, SPI, PCIe, USB, etc.
  • Knowledge of modern analog and digital electronics and electronic circuits
  • Comfort with electronic CAD tools, preferably Altium, but also familiar with Eagle and other tools
  • Experience in design for signal integrity and power integrity
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active US Secret security clearance

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Understanding of DO-254, DO-178C, DO-160 and relevant avionics design standards for UAS
  • Familiarity with aircraft avionics module vendors and avionics component suppliers from past experience in UAS programs

This is a highly competitive role with a salary range of $142,000-$213,000 USD, plus equity grants and comprehensive benefits.
