Flight Integration Engineer

Shield AI is seeking a Flight Integration Engineer to deploy autonomy solutions onto unmanned platforms, prepare systems for flight, and troubleshoot mission-critical issues.

The role involves:

• System Integration & Deployment: integrating autonomy software onto unmanned aircraft systems
• Pre-flight Preparation: building, configuring, and validating flight-ready systems
• On-site Flight Test Support: supporting live flight operations and troubleshooting
• Hardware/Software Debugging: diagnosing and resolving integration issues
• Flight Data Capture & Analysis: managing data collection and post-test analysis
• Collaboration Across Teams: working with autonomy, GNC, systems, and test teams
• Continuous Improvement: building tools and processes to improve integration timelines and team efficiency
• Support Certification and Compliance: assisting with documentation and system-level validation

Requirements include:

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar degree
• 7+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 5 years and a Master's degree; or 4 years with a PhD
• Proficiency in C++, Python, Linux-based development, and real-time operating systems
• Experience with embedded systems, shell scripting, and system diagnostics
• Knowledge of sensor integration, sensor fusion, and middleware frameworks
• Hands-on experience supporting flight demos or live exercises

Preferred qualifications include direct experience with unmanned aerial systems, autonomy stacks, and flight control systems.
