Summary
Microsoft AI are looking for a talented Senior Data Scientist at their Beijing office. This role sits at the intersection of product, data science, and engineering to define success metrics, design rigorous experiments, build scalable analytics frameworks, and generate actionable insights that improve user experience, product quality, and business outcomes.
About the Role
As a Senior Data Scientist, you will work at the intersection of product, data science, and engineering to define success metrics, design rigorous experiments, build scalable analytics frameworks, and generate actionable insights that improve user experience, product quality, and business outcomes. You will partner closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Designers, and cross-functional stakeholders to drive data-informed decisions from concept to launch. As part of Microsoft AI, you will contribute to building intelligent and trustworthy Copilot experiences that are measurable, explainable, and continuously improving at scale.
Accountabilities
- Define and evolve product health metrics for Copilot experiences (e.g., quality, engagement, retention, latency, reliability, and task success).
- Design and execute A/B tests and quasi-experimental analyses to evaluate feature impact and guide roadmap prioritization.
The Candidate we're looking for
Experience:
- Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) OR Master’s Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) OR Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) OR equivalent experience.
Technical skills:
- Solid hands-on skills in Python and SQL; experience with large-scale data processing and analytical workflows.
- Solid foundation in statistical modeling, experimentation design, hypothesis testing, and causal inference.
Personal attributes:
- Solid problem-solving skills and the ability to drive end-to-end analytical projects with high ownership.
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal), with the ability to influence cross-functional partners.

- Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI employees who live within a 50-mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week.
