Description

As the Regional Director for the U.S. East, you will lead operations across multiple data center sites, setting regional standards for performance, reliability, safety, and operational excellence. This role requires regular on-site presence to conduct audits, support emergency response, mentor local teams, and ensure consistent execution in the field.

You will guide site leadership, manage regional budgets and forecasts, and serve as the primary escalation point for critical incidents. You will also drive capacity planning and growth readiness, aligning MW, rack space, staffing, and workforce plans to customer demand, product roadmaps, and long-term infrastructure strategy.

Using KPIs, SLAs, dashboards, and operational data, you will track uptime, incident response, maintenance execution, safety performance, and regional readiness. You will standardize SOPs, MOPs, and EOPs across sites, ensuring documentation is current, auditable, and consistently followed.

You will partner with Product, Network Engineering, Security, Real Estate, Finance, Legal, HR, vendors, and service providers to support new deployments, manage risk, optimize costs, and keep regional priorities aligned. You will also represent the region in executive forums, providing clear updates on capacity, risk, performance, staffing, and operational health.

The ideal candidate will be based near a data center hub within the territory (including, but not limited to, NY, NJ, PA, VA, OH, GA, and MA) and must be prepared for frequent travel throughout the entire Eastern corridor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure data center uptime and SLA adherence across the region
  • Oversee incident response performance, escalation effectiveness, and post-incident corrective actions
  • Manage preventive and corrective maintenance execution
  • Ensure safety performance and compliance readiness
  • Drive capacity readiness across MW, rack space, and staffing
  • Manage regional budget performance, vendor performance, and cost optimization
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of operational data across tooling and reporting systems

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in critical facility operations, with at least 5+ years in a senior management or multi-site leadership role within data centers or a similar mission-critical environment
  • Experience scaling data center operations in a cloud, hyperscale, GPU, or HPC environment
  • Demonstrated experience leading geographically dispersed, 24/7 operations teams, including frontline managers and individual contributors
  • Proven ability to translate business and technical requirements into clear regional execution plans, with a track record of delivering against aggressive timelines in high-growth environments
  • Skilled at navigating complex stakeholder landscapes, communicating clearly and calmly with executives, partners, and on-site teams,especially during high-pressure incidents
  • Experience managing large-scale capital and operational budgets
  • Thorough knowledge of data center infrastructure, including cooling, power, fire suppression, security, and networking
  • Experience with incident management, root cause analysis, and post-incident reviews
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards such as Uptime Institute, ISO, OSHA, and local building/environmental codes
  • Frequent travel, up to 40%, across the East Territory is required to support multi-site operations and incident management
  • Must be available for occasional after-hours or weekend work in the event of critical incidents or emergency escalations
  • Ability to work in environments with high noise levels and temperature variations
  • Must be able to traverse data center floors and mechanical galleries to conduct inspections and oversee operations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • Proficiency with Data Center Infrastructure Management tools and building management/facility monitoring systems
  • Change management expertise with demonstrated success implementing process, technology, and organizational improvements
  • Experience building KPI dashboards, executive reporting, and operational scorecards across multi-site environments

The base salary range for this role is $115,000 to $155,000. The starting salary will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and the market location. We strive for both market alignment and internal equity when determining compensation. In addition to base salary, our total rewards package includes a discretionary bonus, equity awards, and a comprehensive benefits program (all based on eligibility).
