Junior/Senior Automotive Powertrain Simulation Engineer

Electrification, alternative powertrains, and increasing system complexity are key challenges in the automotive industry. As a powertrain simulation engineer at AVL, you will work with complex automotive systems, focusing on 1D modelling, simulation, and analysis activities in areas such as complete powertrain performance, thermal management, and NVH & acoustics.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing digital twins of future powertrain systems to analyze and optimize system performance

• Developing and improving powertrain systems and methodologies to increase performance, efficiency, comfort, and robustness

• Implementing advanced methodologies and innovative techniques to enhance process automation and operational efficiency

• Performing 1-dimensional simulations and post-processing for powertrain systems, thermal system simulation, engine thermodynamics, and engine intake and exhaust acoustics

• Reflecting system and domain knowledge with KPI and requirement generation, along with test case development and analysis

• Collaborating with AVL Global experts to stay updated with the latest technologies and industry trends

The ideal candidate will have:

• A BSc/MSc/PhD or equivalent engineering degree in automotive, mechanical engineering, electric/electronic, controls, mechatronics, or a related technical field

• At least 2 years of professional experience in R&D and product development projects

• Experience in one or more of the following areas: 1D modelling of automotive systems, powertrain system simulation, thermal system simulation, NVH & acoustics simulation, optimization methodologies, system dynamics, data acquisition, and post-processing

• Modelling experience with at least one of the following: AVL CRUISE M, GT-Suite, Matlab/Simulink

• Programming experience in any language (Python, etc.) is a plus

• Fluent speaking and excellent writing skills in English; German would be a plus
