Senior iOS Engineer, Media Foundations

Reddit is seeking a Senior iOS Engineer to join the Media Foundation team, responsible for delivering seamless, high-performance media experiences across all platforms. As a Senior iOS Engineer, you will drive technical and product strategy, operations, architecture, and execution for one of the largest sites in the world.

Responsibilities:

• Architect a highly modular, easy-to-integrate iOS video player that enables other teams to build features effortlessly while delivering first-class performance for users.
• Partner with backend media infrastructure and CDN teams to optimize global delivery and performance.
• Work cross-functionally with product, design, and other engineering counterparts to execute on product and business strategy and build novel media products and features.
• Set and define standards that improve developer workflows, recommend best practices, and help coach and mentor engineers on the team.
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools to accelerate prototyping, system design, and coding.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent technical expertise.
• 5+ years of hands-on, professional software development experience developing user-facing iOS mobile native applications at scale, using Swift.
• Strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize tasks and to deliver projects on schedule.
• Excellent communication skills.
• A track record of leading projects that require cross-team and cross-functional collaborations.
• Entrepreneurial spirit.

Nice To Have:

• Knowledge of AVFoundation for video and audio playback, asset management, streaming, editing, and exporting capabilities.
• Familiarity with HTTP Live Streaming (HLS), MPEG-DASH, MP4, and other streaming protocols.
• Hands-on experience optimizing video player performance or building feature-rich products on top of core media playback components.
• A proven track record of using data and performance metrics to relentlessly optimize apps.
• Experience building robust, clean, and scalable APIs/components.
