Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Electrical Engineer to join our team in Costa Mesa, California. This role will be responsible for designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex board designs.
As a Staff Electrical Engineer, you will work closely with vehicle development teams to design, document, and produce tailored fuzing systems and effectors. You will also develop system interconnect diagrams and define wire harnesses that connect electronic equipment within the vehicle.
Responsibilities ===============
- Full cycle PCB design, including collecting requirements, schematic design, component selection, supervision or completion of layout, bring-up, test, debug and integration with the system.
- Development of fuzing circuitry for missile systems.
- Collaboration with vehicle development teams to design, document, and produce tailored fuzing systems and effectors.
- Development of system interconnect diagrams and definition of wire harnesses that connect electronic equipment within the vehicle.
- Support and collaboration with other air vehicle subsystem development constraints.
- Vendor surveys and evaluation to support sourcing for system components.
- Conduct of peer-level and cross-discipline design reviews.
- Building up and testing system components through lab, ground, and flight tests.
- Low-level firmware development for bring-up and test.
- Root cause analysis in support of field operations.
Requirements ============
- BS/MS or higher degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with 10+ years of experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex board designs.
- Competence with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analysers, thermal chambers, current-probes, and automation of tests.
- Familiarity with standard interfaces such as Ethernet, CAN, I2C, SPI, PCIe, USB, etc.
- Familiarity with common MCU, CPU, FPGA devices and technologies.
- Knowledge of modern analog and digital electronics and electronic circuits.
- Comfortable with various electronic CAD tools (Altium preferred, Eagle and others acceptable).
- Experience in design for signal integrity/power integrity.
- Knowledge of modern analog and digital electronics and electronic circuits.
- Test experience including data acquisition, data analysis, and project coordination.
- Ability to travel as required for testing (up to 25% of the time).
- Passion for defending the United States and her allies.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications =======================
- Active U.S. security clearance (DoD Secret or Top-Secret or DOE L or Q).
- 5-10 years+ work experience as an individual contributing engineer, focused on electrical design, analysis, and testing of fuzing and/or ordnance systems.
- Understanding of DO-254, DO-178C, DO-160 and relevant avionics design standards for UAS.
- Familiarity with electrical component suppliers.
- Experience in UAS, missiles, or maritime programmes.
- Experience with the DoD Weapons Safety Boards.
- Experience designing and scaling production of components at volume.
- Experience developing or testing complex electrical systems.
- Experience with MIL-STD-1316, MIL-STD-882E, MIL-STD-2105.
- Experience with JOTP-052 and JOTP-054.
- Experience with explosive operations and/or handling munitions.
