Job Description

Stripe's Intercept team, part of its public goods initiatives, is seeking an experienced biotech/biohealth investor to join as an Investment Lead. The team's mission is to radically reduce the burden of respiratory infections, and eventually eliminate them altogether, through a $500M philanthropic initiative focusing on air-cleaning technologies and broad-spectrum preventatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Expand the pipeline of candidates by proactively engaging networks to source new ideas and technologies, managing referral channels, and screening investment and grant opportunities.
  • Own projects through diligence and transaction execution, advancing companies through early and deep technical diligence, and driving the investment or grantmaking process.
  • Develop points of view on technologies, contributing to publishing a perspective on the most promising approaches, and identifying key gating datapoints.
  • Build and maintain the CRM, ensuring it captures all known projects and has a process to systematically learn about new projects early.
  • Support portfolio projects, leading efforts to accelerate and support projects post-investment, and determining what would let top projects move faster.
  • Map demand-side bottlenecks, addressing key evidence needs and bottlenecks across regulatory, clinical, recommendations, reimbursement, and adoption/uptake.

Requirements:

  • MD/PhD in immunology or infectious disease with 2+ years of investing, BD/partnering, or grantmaking experience, or minimum 5 years of biotech investor experience in immunology or infectious disease at a VC fund.
  • Experience with portfolio management, including portfolio construction and post-award management.
  • Ability to translate scientific diligence into strategic investment recommendations.
  • Product development experience, or broad exposure via investing in or supporting companies.
  • Self-directed, diligent, fast learner, excellent communicator, and action-oriented.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Public health/global health/biosecurity experience.
  • MBA or MPH degrees.
  • Experience with issuing non-dilutive funding/grant programs.
