Description
The Technical Sales Specialist A&D represents the technical reference throughout the entire sales process within the AVL Aerospace & Defence Business Unit, operating transversally between the ITS and PTE domains. In this role, the Technical Sales Specialist provides support to the commercial organisation by providing a high level of technical expertise on the entire AVL A&D portfolio – products, systems, and engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Acts as a technical interface along the sales process for A&D opportunities, covering the ITS and PTE scope
- Integrates ITS competences related to instrumentation and test systems with PTE engineering competences to develop integrated A&D technical solutions
- Provides technical support to the opportunity manager to achieve sales targets
- Makes available know-how on products, applications, services, and systems
- Prepares presentations and conducts product demonstrations
- Communicates to customers the technical benefits of AVL solutions and services
- Develops and maintains customer relationships
- Is responsible for technical content and the accuracy of commercial offers
- Provides market feedback to support product development
- Supports the Sales team during commercial negotiations
- Supports Sales in passing activities to Order Fulfilment and Service
- Supports Sales in identifying opportunities for cross-selling and up-selling on customer applications
- Provides technical support to the Hotline and the local Customer Service organisation
- Collects customer satisfaction information after sales
- Supports the Account-Based Marketing (ABM) in daily operational activities
- Supports the ABM in implementing the product strategy
- Supports the ABM in product launch activities
- Supports the sales forecasting process together with the ABM
- Supports the global segment at the affiliate level
- Develops case studies, white papers, and comparative analyses of competing products and services
- Supports the Sales organisation in aligning global pricing policies
- Supports the global segment in localising products and services
- Supports the Sales organisation with competitive intelligence activities
- Ensures that technical proposals meet specific A&D requirements (industrial security / NOSI authorisation levels, export control constraints, and traceability), in coordination with relevant corporate functions
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (university or university of applied sciences – FH, polytechnic, or equivalent) with a technical focus
- At least 2 years of experience in technical-commercial roles (e.g., technical sales, application engineering, pre-sales) is a strong advantage
- Experience in the aerospace & defence sector or a strong interest in this area is a plus
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- High degree of flexibility, particularly in managing multiple priorities and frequent business trips
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with customers and internal teams
- Proven ability to work successfully in international contexts and team-oriented environments
- High availability for travel: approximately 60% of working time
- Availability to participate, in the first months, in specific technical training courses in Graz, as part of the onboarding and qualification process
- Excellent knowledge of English and the local language
Salary:
- RAL: €38,000 – €48,000
