We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate Director, Software Engineering.

As Associate Director, Software Engineering, you will be responsible for leading the development of software solutions that meet the needs of our customers and stakeholders. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy software systems that are scalable, reliable, and secure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand Group and Group Functions Technology Innovation strategy, work with engineering lead to implement the technical strategy and solution
  • Work with global architecture team and engineering lead to ensure that technical solution, development, and integrations adhere to group standards
  • Work with Group AI team to ensure all solutions delivered align to the Group AI strategy
  • Work as senior technical person in the team to remove technical blockers for team

Requirements:

  • Tenacious about doing things the right way and building efficient and 'brilliantly simple' business solutions
  • Adept at working in customer-facing roles within enterprise environments, helping clients to capitalise on technology for their commercial benefit
  • High-level & holistic capabilities sought:
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent; advanced degree is preferred
  • GCP or AWS certified (GCP preferred)
  • Understand LLM/GenAI mechanism
  • Hands-on experience of building AI agents
  • Expert-level core Java / Python skills
  • Using AI Coding toolings intensively in daily coding work
  • Minimal 10+ years' experience of software developments with both waterfall and Agile methodologies
  • Passionate about technology and look for opportunities to learn & bring new ideas to the team
  • Sound understanding of Azure / Google Cloud platforms
  • Experience working with Kubernetes, Docker, Storage, Cloud Functions
  • Experience in performing data analysis, on Databases (SQL, no-SQL, DBT)
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • Data Flow, Data Proc, Big Query skills an advantage
  • Security (IAM, AD, ADLDS, roles, service accounts, entitlements)
  • Events & Data Streaming: Data Proc, Pub-Sub, Confluent/Kafka
  • Ability to communicate and explain complex ideas in both oral and written English
  • Good stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Experience using GIT, Jira, Maven, Gradle, Jenkins and Ansible

Key HSBC Role Capabilities (non-technical):

  • Experience in Banking and Financial Services with good understanding of the legal and compliance business
  • Good communication (verbal written). Ability to explain complex ideas.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment;\* Keen to learn
  • Experience in delivering complex solutions at large organisations of varying size and complexity
  • Experience working in a global environment
  • Highly motivated, outcome-driven and results-oriented with the ability to prioritise and drive measurable value
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
