Description
We are seeking a Multi Skilled Operator to join our team in South Kirkby, Wakefield. As a Multi Skilled Operator, you will be responsible for loading and sorting waste using mobile plant machinery, ensuring compliance with site environmental permits and municipal contracts.
Key responsibilities include:
- Loading and sorting waste using mobile plant machinery
- Working in accordance with SHEQ policies, including reporting close calls and incidents
- Participating in best practice and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintaining a close working relationship with the South Kirkby Management Team and staff
- Managing stock control and accurately reporting contract and non-contract waste
- Complying with changes to company standards and legislation
- Performing light maintenance of equipment
- Ensuring high levels of housekeeping are maintained
- Covering for reception hall operatives as required
- Running and maintaining baler hall operations, including operating the baler and loading out material to off-takers
- Understanding and running facility process control, including SCADA systems
The successful candidate will have:
- A good understanding of health, safety, and environmental compliance
- Good people skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels
- Previous experience operating mobile plant machinery (e.g., FLT, Telehandler, loading shovel)
- Good organisational skills
- A full UK car driving license
Desirable qualifications and experience include:
- CITB card (wheeled loading shovel, wheeled 360, telehandler)
- Basic plant maintenance experience
- Logistics operation experience
- Basic knowledge of environmental compliance issues associated with waste disposal
- Knowledge of SCADA systems
The salary for this role is £35,000 per annum.
