Cyber Security Staff Engineer - Insider Threat

You will join a dedicated security engineering team focused on protecting Synopsys' and customer information from internal threats. As a Cyber Security Staff Engineer - Insider Threat, you will utilise advanced monitoring tools and techniques to detect suspicious activities, anomalies, and deviations from normal behaviour within Synopsys' networks and systems. You will analyse data logs, user activities, and access patterns to identify potential insider threats, unauthorized access, or malicious behaviour. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct comprehensive investigations into suspected insider threats, including gathering evidence, conducting interviews, and collaborating with key stakeholders. You will also perform in-depth forensic analysis of security incidents to determine root causes, motives, and potential impacts on organisational operations and assets. In addition, you will execute proactive threat hunting activities, leveraging cyber threat intelligence, enrichment, correlation, and attribution to uncover hidden risks. You will develop and implement proactive strategies, policies, and technical controls to mitigate insider threats and minimise security risks. You will prepare detailed reports and presentations on insider threat incidents, trends, and mitigation strategies for executive management and stakeholders. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, HR, legal, and compliance, to ensure cohesive and effective responses to insider threat concerns.

Protecting Synopsys' and customer information from internal threats, safeguarding critical data and intellectual property, is your top priority. You will reduce the organisation's exposure to insider risks through timely detection, swift incident response, and continuous threat hunting. You will enhance organisational resilience by developing and implementing robust insider threat mitigation strategies and controls. You will enable secure business operations and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements through thorough investigation and reporting. You will drive down mean time to respond (MTTR) for insider threat incidents, contributing to operational excellence. You will foster a culture of security awareness and accountability across departments by facilitating collaboration and knowledge sharing.

To succeed in this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent experience through continuous learning and personal projects. You will require 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on insider threat detection, analysis, and threat hunting. You will need proficiency in security monitoring tools, SIEM platforms, and advanced data analysis techniques. You will have a strong understanding of insider threat indicators, behavioural analytics, and user activity monitoring. You will have experience with security automation, scripting, and reducing mean time to respond (MTTR) to incidents. You will be able to work with large data sets and utilise log analysis tools effectively. You will have familiarity with legal hold processes and experience collaborating with third-party public and private organisations.
