Description

Are you ready to play a key role in keeping operations running smoothly and safely? As an External Security Lead, you'll deliver a stable, ethical, and well-managed external security environment supporting Tangguh LNG operations and surrounding areas.

This is a senior specialist leadership role within Business Security, responsible for handling external security risks outside the Tangguh LNG site, maintaining trusted partnerships with authorities and communities, and leading contractor security resources across multiple locations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering a stable and well-managed external security environment, reducing the risk of security or social disruption to bp operations.
  • Building and maintaining trusted external security partnerships with government security forces, local authorities, and community stakeholders, aligned with bp standards and ethics.
  • Leading the delivery of Integrated Community-Based Security (ICBS) outcomes, strengthening awareness, collaboration, and social stability around operational areas.
  • Identifying, assessing, and escalating off-site security and social risks early, providing clear, actionable insights to Business Security and site leadership.
  • Ensuring full compliance with bp Ethics & Compliance requirements, with all external security engagements conducted ethically, clearly, and audit-ready.
  • Coordinating and leading contractor security personnel across Bintuni Bay, Fakfak, Kokas, Sorong, Manokwari, and surrounding areas.

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • A degree and/or relevant professional qualification, with broad and sound experience in security, risk management, government liaison, or a related subject area.
  • Sophisticated expertise in external and community-facing security, operating expertly in high-complexity, high-trust environments.
  • Proven experience managing external interested parties, including security forces, government authorities, and community representatives.
  • Excellent judgement and credibility to advise, influence, and challenge while operating within bp policies and ethical standards.
  • Experience leading teams or contractor resources, through direct people management and/or matrix leadership.
  • Proficiency in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
  • Prior experience as a police or military officer is preferred, as the role involves direct engagement with external interested parties, particularly the police and military in Papua.
