Electrical Engineer (Data Center Infrastructure)

Job Overview

As an Electrical Engineer with xAI's facility operations team, you will design, build, and activate technically advanced facilities and data centers. Your focus will be on designing and building power systems for new infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

You will work in a team environment with other engineering disciplines to provide detailed electrical design and specifications for various equipment and systems, including:

• Electrical power distribution systems
• Switchgear and motor control centers
• Exterior and interior lighting
• Ground support system controls and ladder logic
• Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units
• Standby and emergency generators
• Automatic transfer switches
• Power monitoring hardware and software
• Data/phone distribution and wiring
• Building and site grounding systems
• Fire alarm systems and lightning protection systems

Additionally, you will:

• Provide electrical engineering support to facility technicians for troubleshooting existing electrical equipment and controllers
• Perform load flow analysis of electrical power distribution systems
• Evaluate electrical equipment
• Ensure proper grounding of building and facility equipment
• Coordinate electrical installations and maintenance with local electrical utilities personnel
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field
• 3+ years of professional experience in electrical projects, power distribution systems, switchgear, UPS, and generators

Preferred Skills and Experience

• 5+ years of professional experience in a similar role
• Professional Engineering (PE) license
• Experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs), industrial pumps, MODBUS communication, medium voltage distribution, and control panel design
• Knowledge of power coordination and arc flash
• Strong organizational and communication skills
