Cleaning/Waste Operative

As a Cleaning/Waste Operative at ABM, you will deliver cleaning services to client facilities in and around Mermaid Quay, Cardiff Bay, to a high standard. The role involves working indoors and outdoors throughout the day, ensuring a sustainable environment and providing opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular waste collection and disposal duties throughout the shopping centre.
• Monitor waste levels in bins and initiate timely collections to prevent overflow.
• Ensure that waste management areas are kept tidy and organised.
• Collaborate with other team members to implement best practices in waste management.
• Report any maintenance issues with waste bins or collections to management.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations while handling waste materials.
• Conduct regular litter picks and general cleaning of the external aspect of Mermaid Quay.
• Perform overnight pressure washing of paving.
• Use cleaning machines internally and externally.
• Assist team leaders/supervisors when needed to ensure optimum service to clients.
• Perform additional duties as needed.

Requirements:

• Previous experience in waste management or a similar role is preferred.
• Strong understanding of waste disposal and recycling practices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
• Strong communication skills to interact with management, tenants, and members of the public.
• Physical fitness and ability to carry out manual handling tasks related to waste handling.
• Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends, overnight, and cover holidays.
