Description
We're seeking a highly skilled and motivated Hardware Engineering Manager to join our team. As a Hardware Engineering Manager, you will support the Hardware Engineering (METAL) team, which is responsible for building firmware bundles, testing, validation, automation, sustaining support, and hardware failure analysis. Your responsibilities will include building and leading a team, managing day-to-day workloads, identifying opportunities to improve process flows and speed through systems and tools, developing measurable goals for the team, and facilitating constructive communication across all teams.
The METAL team provides sustaining hardware and software support to internal teams, develops and maintains tooling to support CoreWeave's hardware/firmware automation and monitoring, performs hardware failure analysis and tracks RMAs with hardware vendors, and creates and maintains accurate documentation of hardware designs, specifications, test procedures, and results.
As a Hardware Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Building and leading a team of hardware engineers
- Managing day-to-day workloads and prioritizing tasks
- Identifying opportunities to improve process flows and speed through systems and tools
- Developing measurable goals for the team and ensuring alignment to deliver
- Facilitating constructive communication across all teams
- Providing coaching and counseling to team members
- Working closely with recruiting team to attract and evaluate talent
The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience managing operational teams, a passion for leading emerging teams in a fast-paced environment, hands-on experience with datacenter class hardware and infrastructure, experience coaching staff that work on challenging issues and solutions that are scalable and executed rapidly, prior success in creating processes and developing cross-disciplinary collaboration between engineering, operations, support, sales, and product groups, enthusiasm for staffing, interviewing, growing and retaining talent, drives operational excellence through scalable, efficient processes, highly effective communicator with the organizational rigor to align cross-disciplinary stakeholders and drive execution, and exceptional attention to detail and follow-up.
Preferred qualifications include prior experience managing distributed teams with a mix of hardware and software engineers, prior experience working upstream with open source projects, and strong JIRA experience.
