Description

Holland America Line is seeking a Resident Arts & Crafts Instructor for its 2027 Grand World Voyage.

The Arts & Crafts Instructor leads multiple hands-on classes per sea day as part of the onboard Entertainment and Enrichment program. Classes span jewelry making, beading, macrame, crochet, embroidery, hand-painted crafts, and paper-arts, with destination-inspired themes that rotate through the voyage. Classes are intended for beginner level, with many guests developing their skills and mastering their craft by the end of the voyage.

The ideal candidate is an experienced artist and craft teacher, warm, approachable, and equally at ease in front of a classroom, or in casual conversations with guests throughout the Grand Voyage. When not teaching classes, or prepping for the next class, you will act as an ambassador for Holland America Line.

The Art & Craft Instructor will also be required to develop the voyage-length class calendar, and prepare student craft kits in advance of the January 2027 voyage.

This is a one-time, five-month seagoing contract, with a private cabin, all meals provided, and full guest access to the ship when not teaching classes. Some IPM and safety duties will be required on certain port days.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple one-hour sessions per sea day, open to all guests.
  • Provide instruction, hands-on guidance, and encouragement, adapting to varying skill levels and physical abilities.
  • Engage with guests naturally outside of class during the entirety of the voyage.
  • Design the full class roster and assemble all guest kits while working from home, prior to embarkation in January 2027.

Holland America Line will cover all material costs and shipping.

  • Develop a voyage-length calendar with destination-inspired themes in coordination with Holland America Line Entertainment.
  • Collaborate with the Entertainment team on scheduling and programming.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Experience in teaching and instructing or Arts and Crafts.
  • Experience in designing class instruction, and detailed student lists.
  • Previous cruise ship experience a plus.

Requirements:

  • This is a sea-going contract from January 3, 2027 - May 15, 2027.
  • This is a Resident Presenter contract onboard a Holland America Line vessel Crew Manfiest.
  • You must have a legal passport valid through the end of 2027.
  • You must be able to pass a Seafarer Medical Exam as instructed by Holland America Line.
  • You must obtain any and all required visas as instructed by Holland America Line.
