Description

We are seeking a Welding Support Co-op to join our team at Multimatic, a global enterprise supplying engineered components, systems and services to the automotive industry.

The successful candidate will assist in solving maintenance-related problems with minimal interruption to production, perform maintenance and repair work, ensure weld quality specifications are met, troubleshoot weld processes, maintain equipment documentation, participate in preventative maintenance programs, and provide support to various departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in solving maintenance-related problems with minimum interruption to production.
  • Perform all maintenance and repair work in either the plant or grounds as assigned.
  • Ensure all weld quality specifications are met, by continuously monitoring the weld processes on the equipment assigned.
  • Troubleshoot all aspects of the weld process as required.
  • Assist in maintaining up-to-date documentation of all equipment.
  • Actively participate in the Preventative Maintenance Program and downtime reduction process.
  • Participate in development and implementation of latest technologies to improve productivity and/or quality.
  • Make recommendations to improve equipment efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Maintain clean and safe working conditions.
  • Actively participate in the preparation of safety and operation procedures.
  • Provide support to the Assembly Support Department, Facilities Department, and Press/Toolroom as required.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary co-op program in a related field.
  • Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems and tools is an asset.
  • Experience with mechanical systems is an asset.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems.
  • Basic knowledge of welding process (GMAW).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good problem-solving techniques.

The total cash compensation range for this position is expected to be $17.60 - $25.48.
