Job Summary
The New York Public Library is seeking a part-time Program and Technology Associate to support the technological and programmatic needs of the Bronx Library Center. This role will work closely with programming staff and internal departments to determine audiovisual and technological requirements, assist in ensuring staffing and equipment needs are met, set up and operate technology for events, and provide staff and public technology training and assistance.
Responsibilities:
- Support all aspects of the Bronx Library Center's technological and programmatic needs (a/v, lighting)
- Train and support staff on A/V and computer technology
- Ensure that all A/V materials and equipment are handled properly and accounted for at the end of the day
- Perform basic repairs, adjustments, and cleaning of A/V devices
- Provide input and expertise on A/V and technology purchases
- Troubleshoot and assist with the handling of specialized user needs
- Assist with new A/V and/or technological initiatives and workflow, including documenting public programs and equipment maintenance
- Schedule and facilitate virtual/remote support for all programs
- Assist with BLC digital signage content creation and workflows
- Assist in monitoring programs and attendees for BLC
- Attend and participate in library staff meetings and training sessions
- Provide computer technology instruction and support to the public
Key Responsibilities
- 4 years of proven experience with A/V technology and computer hardware/software or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated experience with video/film projection including work with laptop projection and digital video
- Successfully demonstrated experience working with a variety of A/V formats and equipment (Lighting, Crestron, digital consoles, projectors, wireless microphones, etc…)
- Successfully demonstrated experience working with Zoom, Google Meet, and related virtual meeting platforms
Required Skills
- Proficient with analog and digital technologies
- Successfully demonstrated ability to work with both Mac and PC computer platforms
- Successfully demonstrated ability to teach basic computer technology to the public
- Successfully demonstrated ability to perform work independently with speed, reliability, and accuracy in an automated environment, including the ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems as they arise
- Successfully demonstrated ability to work on multiple tasks with changing priorities and deadlines
- Ability to communicate well with others, including co-workers, library users, and creative collaborators
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and Google Suite
Managerial/Supervisory Responsibilities
- May supervise hourly staff during events
