You will enter Carta's engineering interview process as part of a pooled hiring model. As a Staff Engineer, you will be a technical anchor for the business, taking long-term accountability for the technical health and strategic direction of different domains.

Key Areas of Influence

You may influence the following strategic areas:

• Integrated CRM & ERP Solutions: Defining and delivering the next-generation CRM as part of a fully integrated ERP for private capital.
• AI-Driven Data Ingestion, Processing and Analytics: Accelerating the modernization of private capital markets by integrating advanced AI-powered data ingestion, extraction and analytics.
• Engineering Excellence: Defining company-wide standards that reduce operational load and improve developer velocity across dozens of teams.

Responsibilities

As a Staff Engineer, you are responsible for:

• Navigating ambiguity and tackling complex problems
• Championing systemic improvement and driving architectural changes
• Bridging technical gaps and aligning multiple teams on major technical decisions
• Defining the AI frontier and leading the charge in transforming how Carta builds
• Upholding engineering standards and mentoring senior engineers

Requirements

• Expertise in building distributed systems
• Proficiency in Python/Django, React, and Postgres, with comfort guiding technical direction across JVM languages, gRPC, and cloud-native infrastructure (AWS)
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with a track record of high-level technical leadership
• Leadership skills, with the ability to lead through influence rather than authority
