Description
We are seeking an experienced UK VAT Senior Manager to join our team on an 18-month fixed term contract. This role is critical to enhancing our VAT compliance framework, supporting a major tax engine implementation project, and conducting a comprehensive review of our UK/EU and Australian VAT processes across both output and input taxes.
As a UK VAT Senior Manager, you will undertake reviews of our existing VAT processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing best practice procedures to enhance accuracy and efficiency. You will provide tax technical support for implementing a new tax engine, ensuring that the team correctly configures VAT determination logic and produces accurate and compliant outputs.
Your responsibilities will also include conducting a holistic review of output tax treatment across all revenue streams, ensuring correct classification of liability and proper accounting for all taxable supplies. Additionally, you will review input tax recovery processes, with particular emphasis on our partial exemption special method, ensuring correct application of the methodology agreed with HMRC.
You will provide technical support to the existing tax team when preparing and reviewing VAT returns and other compliance obligations during the contract period. You will develop and deliver training to finance and operational teams on VAT matters and document processes, controls, and technical positions to support knowledge transfer at the conclusion of the contract.
To be successful in this role, you will have a qualified accounting background (ACA, ACCA, CTA, or equivalent) and post-qualification experience in UK VAT, ideally gained within a Big Four or mid-tier accountancy practice and/or in a senior in-house indirect tax role. You will have experience with tax engine implementations and cross-border and non-UK VAT experience.
This is a hybrid role, working three days from the office and two from home. We are open to a remote worker for this position.
