Field Solutions Engineer

Job Overview

As a Field Solutions Engineer at Cloudflare, you will serve as a technical expert throughout the sales cycle, working closely with customers, Account Executives, Product Management, Engineering, and Customer Success. Your goal will be to find best-fit architectures for high-value prospects, guide major enterprises to their 'time to first value,' and design custom validation approaches for complex scenarios.

Key Responsibilities

• Define technical success criteria and validation activities aligned with customer outcomes.
• Take technical leadership in partnerships with accounts, demonstrating deep proficiency in Cloudflare's portfolio.
• Conduct thorough technical discovery and qualification of prospect and customer use cases.
• Participate in account planning, stakeholder mapping, and multi-product roadmap development.
• Provide technical best practices and strategic guidance on internet security, performance, and architecture.
• Collaborate across Sales, Product, Engineering, and Support to coordinate feature requests and deliver ecosystem integrations.
• Contribute to a high-performance team culture through mentorship and thought leadership.
• Travel 25-50% to align face-to-face with high-growth accounts and regional teams.

Requirements

• Minimum 3+ years of experience in sales engineering, consulting, or systems engineering within enterprise segments.
• Knowledge of MEDDPICC validation and BANT qualifications.
• Production-grade expertise across all layers of the OSI Model.
• Deep technical knowledge of cloud security and performance portfolios.
• Demonstrated proficiency with a scripting or programming language.
• Polished communication and high emotional intelligence with a proven track record of building long-term relationships.
• Strong ownership to manage projects, meet deadlines, and prioritize competing demands.
• Proficient in adoption and utilization of AI tools.

Desired Skills

• Hands-on experience building full-stack web applications or experimenting with emerging generative AI security architectures.
• Comfortable working with command-line interfaces and analyzing HTTP requests/responses.
• Ability to describe web vulnerabilities and explain how Cloudflare's platform mitigates them.
• Advanced certifications in networking, cloud architectures, or information security.
