Description
We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer, Analytics to join our data team. As a Data Engineer, Analytics, you will be responsible for owning the transformation and semantic layer that turns data into clean, tested, well-documented tables and dashboards that data scientists, product managers, and business stakeholders can trust and self-serve from.
You will define and operationalize the metrics that inform how we identify opportunities, measure success, and make decisions. This includes designing, building, and maintaining curated analytical datasets and data models that serve as the canonical sources for metrics, dashboards, and analyses.
You will partner closely with data science, product managers, and engineering teams to translate business questions into well-modeled, performant, and discoverable data assets. You will execute metric workflows, from metric definition and logging schema design to data modeling and visualization, with guidance from manager and senior team members.
You will also build and maintain executive-level dashboards and self-serve reporting tools that enable business stakeholders to answer their own questions.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain curated analytical datasets and data models that serve as the canonical sources for metrics, dashboards, and analyses.
- Partner closely with data science, product managers, and engineering teams to translate business questions into well-modeled, performant, and discoverable data assets.
- Execute metric workflows, from metric definition and logging schema design to data modeling and visualization, with guidance from manager and senior team members.
- Build and maintain executive-level dashboards and self-serve reporting tools that enable business stakeholders to answer their own questions.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in analytics or data engineering with a strong focus on building curated, consumer-facing datasets.
- 2+ years of experience in designing, developing, and maintaining robust data models from structured and unstructured sources to power a variety of use cases, including experimentation.
- 2+ years of experience writing accurate and effective SQL.
- Fluency in Python or another programming language.
- Experience building and owning executive-level dashboards and reports using BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, or similar).
- Strong business acumen, you will partner with data scientists and product managers to translate ambiguous questions into concrete metric definitions and data models.
- Excellent communication, comfortable being the connective tissue between technical and business teams.
Bonus Points:
- Passion for Discord or online communities.
- Experience building or contributing to a semantic layer or metrics store.
- Experience with modern analytics and data engineering tools (dbt, BigQuery etc).
- Experience implementing and monitoring audits for data quality with massive data sets (e.g. billions of rows).
- Experience working on SEO, GEO, or other top of funnel growth focused features.
- Experience collaborating with compliance, legal, or litigation cross-functional teams.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $160,000 to $180,000 + equity + benefits.
