We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Cash Equities Software Engineer. As a key member of the Equities Technology / Cash & Electronic team, you will play a crucial role in helping to turn HSBC's investment in its front office electronic trading platform into a scalable, extensible and performant global trading platform.
The successful applicant will have solid hands-on experience with software engineering of low-latency or real-time systems, and excellent Java proficiency, including concurrency, tuning, and memory management. They will also have good command of Linux/UNIX command line interface, experience with container runtimes (Podman, Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes), and familiarity with message passing systems such as Kafka and Aeron.
In addition, the ideal candidate will practice data-driven optimizations (profiling, metrics collection) and have working knowledge of CI/CD techniques. They will collaborate effortlessly online and offline, and work effectively with software engineers in other time zones.
Key responsibilities will include designing, implementing and deploying enhancements to HSBC's electronic trading platform, supporting and optimizing existing systems, and reducing toil and repetitive tasks by automation.
