Description
Join Ford of Canada as a Chemical Metallurgical Technician - Supplemental. In this role, you will perform various chemical, metallurgical, and physical tests and analysis of plant processes, products, and purchased materials to ensure conformance to established standards.
Your primary responsibilities will include testing items such as crankshaft heat treat pattern evaluation, collection, and analysis of metal working fluids from machining areas, part cleanliness testing, PTWA adhesion testing, RTV adhesion testing, etc.
You will evaluate test results, investigate problems, and promptly report conclusions and recommendations to applicable plant personnel.
You will provide advice and assistance of a chemical or metallurgical nature to plant and supplier personnel relative to processes, materials, and manufacturing equipment, including investigation of in-plant and warranty material failures.
You will prepare and maintain records and distribute special or routine reports, outlining analytical results for use of plant and division staff.
You will determine laboratory testing methods, established test frequencies, and assist in the development of new testing methods, testing cycles, etc.
You will write and maintain laboratory testing procedures, verify, calibrate, and maintain lab equipment, obtain quotes, purchase supplies, write procedures, and maintain documentation and records according to established standards.
Job requirements include performance of physical work involving lifting of parts/fixtures, securing of bolts, handles, knobs, etc., bending/reaching to facilitate equipment setup, as well as handling of delicate work involving small particles, filters, and microscopic specimens.
Performance of miscellaneous related duties as required.
Job location can vary anywhere across the Windsor site (Essex Engine, Windsor Engine/Annex) from day to day as required.
