As a Senior Game Designer, you will design and develop complex game systems and features that support long-term engagement, player progression, and a cohesive city-building experience. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners across design, product, engineering, UX, art, analytics, and production to deliver high-quality features in a live-service environment.

This role is suited to an experienced designer who is comfortable owning features end to end, working autonomously, and contributing to both short-term execution and long-term design goals.

Game Design and Game Development

  • Design, develop, and iterate on game systems and features across the player journey, including early-, mid-, and late-game experiences.
  • Own deliverables throughout the full development lifecycle, from ideation and pre-production through implementation, balancing, launch, and post-launch optimisation.
  • Produce clear, thorough, and actionable design documentation to support implementation by engineering, UX, and other cross-functional partners.
  • Ability to formulate player experience goals and translate them into game systems and economy design
  • Ensure features integrate cohesively with existing systems and align with the overall vision for SimCity BuildIt.

Live Service and Player Experience

  • Contribute to the design of live-service features, events, and systems that drive long-term engagement and retention.
  • Collaborate with product management and analytics to review player data, identify opportunities, and inform design decisions.
  • Evaluate player feedback and performance metrics to guide ongoing improvements and refinements.
  • Balance player experience goals with business objectives in a thoughtful, player-first way.

Collaboration and Team Contribution

  • Work closely with cross-disciplinary partners and stakeholders to align on goals, scope, and delivery.
  • Participate in design reviews, playtests, and feedback sessions, contributing constructively to team discussions.
  • Ability to review and analyse feedback from others on the designs that they own, separate actionable from non-actionable feedback and propose action plans.
  • Support other designers through feedback, knowledge sharing, and collaboration.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and best practices within the team.
