Senior UI/UX engineer

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior UI/UX engineer.

The Group AI Platform team sits within CTO Platforms, part of HSBC’s Chief Technology Office (CTO). We build shared AI foundations that enable teams across the Bank to deliver AI solutions faster, more safely and at scale.

In this role, you will be responsible for designing and building intuitive, accessible digital experiences. You’ll work end-to-end: discovering user needs, shaping interaction and visual design, and partnering closely with engineers to deliver high-quality UI in production.

Responsibilities:

• Lead end-to-end UX: discovery, user flows, IA, wireframes, prototyping, usability testing
• Deliver polished UI: responsive layouts, interaction design, visual hierarchy, micro-interactions
• Apply accessibility standards, inclusive design, content and contrast best practice
• Partner with Product and Engineering: translate requirements into build-ready designs and acceptance criteria
• Contribute to UI implementation: collaborate on component libraries/design systems; code UI where required (e.g., React/CSS)
• Measure and improve outcomes: analytics-informed iteration, experiment support, continuous optimisation
• Provide senior leadership: mentor peers, run critiques/workshops, drive consistency and quality across products

Requirements:

• 2+ years’ experience in UX/UI design, product design, design engineering, or similar roles
• Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end work (discovery → design → delivery) with measurable outcomes
• Strong in interaction design, visual design, and designing complex journeys (forms, onboarding, dashboards, transactional flows)
• Strong proficiency with design tools (Figma preferred) and collaborative workflows
• Solid understanding of front-end constraints and modern UI implementation approaches
• Practical experience designing for accessibility and inclusive design
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills; able to influence decisions with evidence
