Description

We are looking for an experienced Litigation Counsel to join our Legal team. Reporting to the Director, Global Litigation, you will work closely with two Senior Litigation Counsels to manage a diverse caseload, including individual consumer claims, high-stakes matters, and IP litigation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing Discord's individual consumer claims docket end-to-end, including consumer arbitrations, state attorney general individual consumer complaints, and Digital Services Act (DSA) complaints
  • Partnering with litigation teammates on high-stakes matters, including regulatory inquiries, putative class actions, and other complex disputes
  • Taking ownership of discovery workstreams on major matters, including managing document review, coordinating with internal teams on custodian identification and data preservation, drafting and responding to written discovery, and preparing witnesses for depositions
  • Managing trademark, copyright, and other IP litigation matters, including matters involving DMCA-related disputes

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • 7+ years of combined experience at a law firm and/or in-house legal department, with meaningful exposure to technology or consumer-facing platforms
  • Hands-on experience with the full eDiscovery lifecycle, including preservation, collection, processing, review, and production
  • Hands-on litigation experience in consumer litigation as well as global copyright, trademark, and related intellectual property matters

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with Discord and the video game and/or online communication industry
  • In-house experience at a consumer-facing technology platform
  • Experience with regulatory, platform safety, minor safety, privacy, consumer protection matters, internet platform liability (including CDA 230), and multi-district litigations (and/or state coordinated proceedings)
  • Experience managing consumer arbitration portfolios at scale
  • Familiarity with patent litigation
  • Background in gaming, social media, or communications technologies
