Skills, Knowledge & Expertise:
- Communicate clearly in written and spoken English.
- Experience in the operation of security screening equipment such as x-ray machines, walkthrough metal detectors, hand-held metal and explosive detectors, CCTV, etc.
- Lead all onboard investigations of alleged crimes and security incidents as detailed in Fleet Regulations.
- Oversee all evidence collection and crime scene preservation by ship's personnel.
- Investigate minor passenger injuries as directed by the Staff Captain.
- Provide an immediate positive first impression to passengers.
- Work with security team to maximize the effectiveness of their operations and service for passengers and crew.
- Communicate clearly and appropriately with shipboard and shoreside personnel regarding service provided in all parts of the operation.
- Promote the goal of resolving passenger problems or concerns immediately, or at a minimum before the cruise ends.
- Manage gangway operations including access control, screening of all personnel wishing to board the vessel for prohibited items, proper relief/rotation of staff, and efficient/effective operations including line management.
- Coordinate security operations with outside agencies and complete Declarations of Security as required by the ISPS Code.
- Supervise the set up, calibration, operation, and maintenance of all onboard security-related equipment in accordance with manufacturers'/Company requirements.
- Ensure compliance with ISPS and Carnival Corporate Security Standards at all times.
- Assist the Staff Captain with the efficient operation of the master key system on board.
- Oversee continual training of the security team in Code Sierra procedures, exercises, drills, and any other security requirements ensuring compliance with international and Company regulations.
- Manage authorized visitor access to the ship, including identification, confirmation of business, and issuance of visitor passes.
- Review and make necessary entries into the Port & Ship Security Management Database, based on occurrences.
