[P] Data Engineer, Safeguards

As a Data Engineer on the Safeguards team at Anthropic, you will build the data foundations that keep AI systems safe.

The Safeguards team works to monitor models, prevent misuse, and ensure user well-being , and doing that well requires robust, reliable data infrastructure.

In this role, you will design and build pipelines, warehousing solutions, and analytical tooling that power safety and trust efforts at scale.

Key responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines for safety monitoring, abuse detection, and enforcement workflows
• Develop and optimize data models and warehousing solutions for efficient analysis of large-scale usage and safety data
• Build and maintain dashboards and reporting infrastructure for Safeguards teams
• Collaborate with engineers to integrate data from multiple sources
• Implement data quality frameworks, monitoring, and alerting
• Partner with research teams to surface data insights
• Develop self-service data tooling
• Contribute to data governance practices

Minimum qualifications:

• Proficiency in SQL and Python
• Experience with cloud data platforms
• Experience with modern data stack tools
• Experience building dashboards and data visualizations
• Ability to communicate clearly

Preferred qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering
• Comfort contributing across the stack
• Background in trust and safety
• Experience with large-scale event streaming systems
• Experience building data infrastructure for ML model monitoring
• Background in statistical analysis
• Genuine interest in AI's societal implications

The annual compensation range for this role is $320,000-$405,000 USD.
