We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Development Project Engineer to join our team in Costa Mesa, California. As a key member of our Manufacturing Development team, you will be responsible for introducing and implementing the Manufacturing Development Process (MDP) framework across various product lines and teams.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Introducing the MDP framework to diverse stakeholders and programs, and socializing the business process and accompanying resources with cross-functional teams.
- Leading Manufacturing Engineering teams through MDP rollout and implementation for their specific product line, aligning manufacturing milestones with integrated program schedules, establishing accountability for MDP execution, tracking progress, facilitating action item closure, personalizing resources, and prioritizing team activities and deliverables.
- Communicating the importance of MDP and how it contributes to production success to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, identifying and executing tailored communication strategies to match stakeholder interests.
- Articulating manufacturing readiness to cross-functional audiences, creating and maintaining data visualization dashboards that synthesize engineering and production information to highlight manufacturing risks and escalate them to leadership.
- Facilitating phase gate evaluations alongside Manufacturing Engineering teams, shaping presentation content and guiding messaging to cross-functional stakeholders, providing feedback on best practices and lessons learned to help define what good looks like.
- Championing Manufacturing Engineering and Manufacturing Operations initiatives across teams and sites, from targeted pilots to broad rollout, fostering adoption and making business processes and frameworks actionable by creating tactical resources to implement them.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of the product lifecycle, as well as the purpose of each phase and its associated importance for manufacturing readiness. You should also have a proven ability to execute operationally while also being able to step back and think strategically, and a desire to learn new things without fear of jumping in.
The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, manufacturing operations, design engineering, change management, project management, program management, or engineering transformation, and 8+ years of experience overall in relevant domains.
