Job Purpose
As a Data Scientist at Honda, you will provide deep analytical support to improve the organization's ability to allocate resources effectively, optimize budget utilization, and strengthen workforce and workload forecasting.
Key Accountabilities
Data Analysis, Insights, and Forecasting
Analyze resource, financial, workload, and organizational data to identify inefficiencies, cost drivers, and opportunities to optimize resource utilization. Strengthen forecasting for areas with weak predictability, such as overhead and management functions, by identifying key drivers and improving modeling approaches. Evaluate existing development program forecasting methods and identify areas for incremental improvement. Use SQL, Python, R, and Power BI as analysis tools to extract insights, validate trends, and support decision making.
AI/Machine Learning Practical Applications
Identify opportunities to apply AI, machine learning, and Large Language Models based techniques to improve resource demand prediction and long range forecasting. Develop lightweight prototypes to test AI based forecasting approaches. Determine how to integrate AI/Machine Learning models into resource and business planning process with explainability to function leaders and executives.
Stakeholder Communication and Storytelling
Prepare clear, concise, and visually effective presentations that translate analytical findings into actionable recommendations. Align assumptions and interpretations with HR, Finance, Business and Product Planning, and other stakeholders to ensure consistent understanding and decision making.
Strategic Support
Support planning cycles, scenario modeling, and long range resource strategy initiatives. Provide analytical input for headcount modeling, budget trade off evaluations, and capacity risk assessments. Engagement program support to understand impact of resource optimization on workforce.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Minimum Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Data Analytics, Business or Other Related Field. Minimum Experience: 0-6 years of related experience, based on education. Other Job-Specific Skills: Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting complex resource, financial, and organizational datasets. Proficiency with SQL, Python, and Power BI for analysis. Familiarity with machine learning concepts and the ability to build or evaluate prototype models. Ability to clearly communicate insights to leadership and cross functional stakeholders. Comfort working in ambiguous environments and independently shaping analytical direction.
Working Conditions
On-Site Work Style (80% in office / up to 20% remote work). Typical day: Office or remote environment. Desk work ~75%, Meetings and Special Events ~25%. Some travel required. Overtime: Typical 0 to 10 hours per week.
