Mobile Plant Operator

As a Mobile Plant Operator at Biffa, you will play a vital role in loading and sorting waste using mobile plant machinery. This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday, with a salary of £31,324.80 per annum.

Your primary function will be to ensure compliance with the site environmental permit and municipal contract. You will assist with MRF plant blockages, cleaning, and maintenance, while adhering to health and safety rules and regulations.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting with MRF plant blockages and cleaning
• Working in accordance with QHSE policies, including the reporting of close calls and incidents
• Involvement in best practice and continuous improvement, undertaking regular site audits and checks
• Stock control and accurate reporting of contract and non-contract waste
• Complying with changes to company standards and legislation
• Providing light maintenance of equipment
• Assisting the site supervisor in reviewing maintenance activities, cost control, health and safety, behavioural safety observations, KPIs, and implementing necessary remedial actions in the event of variance
• Maintaining the highest level of housekeeping

Requirements:

• Previous mobile plant experience (e.g., FLT, Telehandler, loading shovel, ro/ro, TUG)
• Knowledge of MRF operations
• Willingness to learn and undertake studies to obtain a Level 2 City and Guilds qualification in Sustainable Waste Management
• Good understanding of health, safety, and environmental compliance
• Good people skills, able to communicate at all levels throughout the company and externally
• Full UK car driving license
