Head of Insurance & Business Risk

We are seeking a Head of Insurance & Business Risk to build and manage our corporate insurance program from the ground up. This role involves owning the full corporate insurance program across all lines, centralizing insurance ownership from various stakeholders, meeting with business leaders to surface emerging risks, and building relationships with carriers, underwriters, and regulators.

Key responsibilities include:

• Owning the full corporate insurance program across all lines, including renewals, claims, and broker relationships

• Centralizing insurance ownership from stakeholders across Legal, Facilities, Security, Product, Policy, and Research into a single coherent program

• Meeting regularly with business leaders to surface emerging risks and design coverage or alternative risk-transfer strategies to address them

• Building relationships with carriers, underwriters, and regulators to help shape how the insurance market approaches AI-specific risk

• Thinking about risk transfer holistically, deciding when to insure, self-insure, use captives, transfer contractually, or mitigate operationally

• Embedding Claude throughout the insurance and risk workflow, from exposure modeling to renewal preparation

Strong candidates will have:

• Owned the full corporate insurance program at a company, including the full renewal cycle, claims, broker management, and board reporting

• Deep technical insurance depth, speaking credibly to coverage structure, exclusions, and pricing dynamics across major lines without deferring to a broker

• Built or significantly rebuilt a risk function, rather than only inheriting and maintaining one

• Thought about risk transfer holistically and articulated when not to buy a policy

• Operated at the pace of a fast-growing company and been seen as additive to the business, not a blocker

• Had a point of view on how to structure coverage for risks the market hasn't fully priced yet

Annual compensation range for this role is $300,000-$370,000 USD.
