Description
Job Purpose
This position is a core member of the Prototype Purchasing Department. Responsible for purchasing automotive parts and tooling for the development of new models in North America and provide support for developments in Japan as well. The automotive parts purchased are critical to the design maturation process providing cost competitive and timely vehicle development.
Key Accountabilities
- Obtaining part delivery confirmations from suppliers, negotiate gaps, develop countermeasures, and track delivery to the Honda Auto Development Center.
- Gathering, evaluating, negotiating, and gaining approval for parts and tooling costs while ensuring payments to supplies and resolving invoicing or pricing issues.
- Participating in meetings with end-users, suppliers, engineers, and procurement staff.
- Converting Purchase Requisitions into Purchase Orders and issue to suppliers.
- Creating and presenting proposals to management regarding supplier selection as necessary, adding new suppliers, identifying process improvements, etc.
- Performing general processes and document retention
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- Minimum educational Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain or Business Administration or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum work experience in the industry:
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a related industry.
- Other job-specific Skills:
Strong PC skills. Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills. Cross-functional relationship building and negotiation skills. SAP / Ariba and automotive direct procurement knowledge preferred. Experience reading CAD drawings preferred
Workstyle
The employee has to report onsite for work, at least 4 days per workweek. One remote workday a week may be possible with prior departmental approval.
