Associate – Venture & Growth Debt

About this role

You will play a leading role in underwriting and executing venture debt transactions, working closely with senior team members while taking ownership of key analytical and structuring workstreams.

The Opportunity

As an Associate, you will be responsible for leading analytical workstreams across the full transaction lifecycle, conducting independent credit analysis and due diligence, designing and calibrating appropriate financing structures, building and reviewing complex financial models, preparing and presenting investment recommendations, supporting structuring and negotiation of transaction terms and long form documentation, managing transaction processes across internal and external stakeholders, and monitoring portfolio companies, plus managing relationships with management teams and the wider ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead analytical workstreams across the full transaction lifecycle
  • Conduct independent credit analysis and due diligence
  • Design and calibrate appropriate financing structures
  • Build and review complex financial models
  • Prepare and present investment recommendations
  • Support structuring and negotiation of transaction terms and long form documentation
  • Manage transaction processes across internal and external stakeholders
  • Monitor portfolio companies, plus manage relationships with management teams and the wider ecosystem

Candidate Profile

  • Typically 3–6 years’ experience in venture debt, VC/growth equity, private credit, investment banking, consulting or related roles
  • Motivated team player. Flexible and open-minded in approach
  • Demonstrated experience underwriting and executing transactions
  • Strong credit judgement and structuring capability
  • Experience managing transaction processes and working with legal documentation
  • Commercial mindset with strong stakeholder management skills
  • Clear communicator with leadership potential
  • High integrity and alignment with BlackRock’s fiduciary culture
