Description
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for owning the physical design, prototyping, and fabrication of production equipment. You will develop novel tooling solutions for fabrication and assembly of structural parts, perform detailed mechanical designs, and execute engineering calculations. You will also perform FEA simulations to validate structural and dynamic performance of mechanical components, use FEA results to optimize designs for weight, cost, and manufacturability, and design and develop mechanical test equipment.
You will effectively coordinate your effort to support the Production team with mechanical design of fixtures/equipment, act as a subject matter expert in DFM/DFA reviews, select and manage suppliers, oversee physical assembly and commissioning of designed systems, and support the broader Production team by creating and maintaining designs in our PLM (Teamcenter).
You will diagnose and resolve production issues promptly, including equipment malfunctions and process deviations, ensure all processes adhere to safety regulations and company policies, and design manufacturing jigs and fixtures capturing design updates, modifications, and improvements to existing manufacturing equipment and aids.
This is a 12-month contract position based onsite in our Sydney office. The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only.
