Senior Mechanical Engineer, Actuation & Fluid Systems

We're seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the development of hydraulic and actuated systems for our X-BAT jet-engine VTOL military UAV platform. This role involves designing components and fluid systems, engaging with suppliers, performing system and component analysis and sizing, and owning multiple aspects of X-BAT's hydraulics and actuation systems.

Key responsibilities include:

• Collaborating with the engineering team to design, analyse, and implement hydraulic and actuated system designs
• Managing suppliers to establish component and system specifications, purchasing COTS equipment, and ensuring timely delivery of systems to the aircraft
• Designing and executing tests to ensure component and system-level performance meets requirements
• Owning and managing lightweight system-level requirements
• Working with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure excellent implementation of designs

The ideal candidate will have a BS in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent), 5+ years of experience in fluid or hydraulic system design, and strong CAD skills (preferably NX). They should also be proficient in hydraulic system analysis, including 1st principles, Simscape, and Amesim.
