Description

As a Flight Test Engineer at Anduril Industries, you will plan, execute, and report on developmental and operational flight test and evaluation activities. You will work alongside a team of engineers and test specialists to assist in the wider management and coordination of test and evaluation within the UK, US, and Europe under both civil and military approval schemes.

Your primary responsibilities will include determining and developing various approaches to achieve test and evaluation goals, guiding and performing the completion of test activities, and supporting or leading test planning, establishing test measures of success, conducting test (ground and flight), analyzing test performance, and producing high-quality reports to inform future development.

You will have the opportunity to work on new aircraft development, with an emphasis on electronics, avionics, propulsion, flight characteristics, rugged design, and quality at scale. You will also have the chance to work with a variety of technologies, including COTS and bespoke UAS technologies, and to develop your skills in data analysis and interpretation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in an applicable field of engineering
  • 3+ years' flight test experience
  • Expertise and working knowledge of UAS operating rules and regulations in the UK
  • Experience in designing and executing rigorous test protocols for new and developmental systems and skillful in data analysis
  • Thorough understanding of COTS and bespoke UAS technologies
  • Expertise of internal combustion, electric, and/or hybrid powertrains
  • Knowledge of flight control systems and flight dynamics of small, medium, and/or large rotorcraft
  • Knowledge of EO/IR/Lidar sensor payloads and the intricacies required to plan and execute tests when deployed on maneuverable rotorcraft
  • An understanding of and passion for engineering quality concepts, principles, codes, and experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts
  • Quick learner with the capacity to accurately implement new concepts and effectively organize, schedule, and manage multiple project phases
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong interpersonal abilities
  • Comfortable in a dynamic, team-oriented environment performing complex tasks in one or more engineering areas
  • Flexibility to work additional hours and travel for testing activities as required by the business
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to immediately obtain and maintain a UK security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal T&E training at a recognized Test Pilot School
  • Experience within developmental and operational test & evaluation organizations
  • Direct experience with UAS design or operational deployment
  • Advanced knowledge of UAV testing methodologies and data analysis
  • Hold UK General VLOS Certificate
  • Remote pilot experience on VTOL UAS
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Go, Java, C++, Python, JavaScript, etc

Salary: £60,000-£80,000 per year
