At AstraZeneca, we are seeking a Director, Access Strategy to join our CVRM Access Strategy team in Wilmington, Delaware. As a Director, Access Strategy, you will be responsible for leading US market access strategy for the CVRM pipeline. You will collaborate with functions across Market Access, Medical, Finance, and the rest of the TA to develop insights and strategies to improve our brand's access, patient affordability, and net price.

The successful candidate will thrive in a rapidly changing market access environment, create clear goals and inspiring plans, develop strong partnerships, and make difficult decisions. You will manage all marketing activities for the CVRM pipeline to support company objectives. You will conduct analyses of the market segment, including identification of key growth drivers, opportunities, and risks. You will incorporate results of analysis into product strategy.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Demonstrating expert knowledge and understanding of the clinical disease state to inform value strategy and access planning.
  • Leading the development of customer education materials and tactics to effectively execute the market access strategy for the CVRM pipeline across stakeholders.
  • Translating scientific and clinical evidence into clear market value propositions that resonate with payers, providers, and policy stakeholders.
  • Creating an integrated payer insight, evidence generation, and customer engagement plan to support access, reimbursement, and pull-through for the CVRM pipeline.
  • Aligning closely with brand teams to develop product value propositions and comprehensive value strategies across market access channels.
  • Partnering to recommend pricing and compliant payer contracting approaches aligned with brand P&L, including innovative approaches to evolving market challenges and contributing to the continuous improvement of market access strategies and execution.
  • Leading in the design and implementation of affordability programming that ensures patient access while carefully stewarding brand budget and gross to net impact.
  • Maintaining expert understanding of the US market access landscape, including legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements affecting coverage and reimbursement.
  • Applying strong financial acumen to understand US payer deal/no-deal analysis, informing contracting strategies and sustainable access decisions.
  • Developing robust measurement, analytics, and reporting plans to track performance, optimize tactics, and inform strategy evolution.
  • Leading and contributing to innovative approaches to meet evolving market access requirements, leveraging insights, data, and external trends.
  • Communicating brand aspiration and market access strategy to key field-based Market Access teams, enabling flawless execution and alignment.

Essential requirements include:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of experience in one or a combination of pharmaceutical, healthcare, scientific, clinical, institutional, or related industry experience
  • 3 years of commercial experience
  • Understanding of the US market access landscape and the legal/regulatory environment for pharmaceuticals/healthcare industry required

Desirable requirements, skills, and capabilities include:

  • Advanced degree in business, marketing, or science
  • Experience in customer-facing roles
  • Financial and forecasting experience
  • Proven track record of consistent achievement or overachievement in developing and delivering strategic and operational plans within a therapeutic or business area
  • Demonstrated experience in working within cross-functional business units essential
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to assess and drive results
  • Strong communication, presentation, collaboration, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to successfully lead through change, complexity, and ambiguity in a highly matrixed environment
  • Demonstrated learning agility
