Description

The Director of External Scientific Engagement, Amyloidosis shapes the external stakeholder engagement strategy aligned to the medical strategy and coordinates its execution through partnership and coordination among the US Medical Affairs team and other internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and driving a coherent and agile external presence that advances AstraZeneca's scientific leadership agenda in ATTR-CM and PN,
  • Designing and delivering engagements that catalyse practice change, streamlining pathways from diagnosis to initiation and persistence,
  • Introducing novel solutions and creative models for external engagement that differentiate AstraZeneca,
  • Partnering with cross-functional Medical Affairs colleagues, as well as other functions, to drive a cohesive engagement and management plan,
  • Ensuring all activities, tools, and systems meet the highest ethical and compliance standards.

Essential qualifications include:

  • An advanced scientific degree (MD, PhD, or PharmD),
  • Medical/clinical/scientific expertise in Amyloidosis,
  • 5+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, ideally in Medical Affairs and Amyloidosis or relevant years of experience in the Medical / Healthcare field,
  • Strategic and innovative thinker with executive presence,
  • Demonstrated track record delivering results in a complex matrix environment, building capabilities, and leading large scale impactful medical initiatives,
  • Proven ability to collaborate and build internal and external networks,
  • Strong analytical mind-set and ability to quickly assess large amounts of information and distil into key messages and actions,
  • Persuasive oral and written communication skills, including the ability to develop and deliver impactful presentations & F2F engagements,
  • Proven ability to collaborate with individuals of diverse experience and backgrounds, across varying functions, levels within the company, or external organisations, to effectively deliver on goals,
  • Strong business acumen, familiarity with the US healthcare system, and key regulations in the pharmaceutical industry.

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $193,281.60 - $289,922.40 USD.
