Description

This role involves working as a Protection & Control Field Services Engineer in the Nuclear Transmission Maintenance Area of Augusta, GA. The successful candidate will be responsible for the Protection & Control (P&C) Field Services activities in their respective area, prioritizing safety and quality. Key responsibilities include commissioning, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting protective relaying, controls, and communication equipment associated with substation and transmission power lines.

The ideal candidate will have a 4-year Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, with experience in P&C Field Services, professional engineering license, and electric power utility transmission construction, maintenance, or operations experience. They should also be familiar with 3-phase power systems, AC/DC Protection & Control Schemes, Fault Analysis, and test equipment such as voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, communications instruments, and computerized relay test sets.

The role requires the candidate to possess problem-solving skills, decision-making abilities, and effective communication skills to manage projects with multiple priorities and coordinate with multiple internal and external stakeholders.

Additional requirements include a valid driver's license, participation in callout rotation, and willingness to respond to outages or other abnormal conditions outside of normal work hours. Overnight travel may be required, and the candidate must be able to pass the standard Southern Company background check, drug screen, and NERC Background check.
