Role overview:

The in-house Games Linguist position will be based at Keywords Tokyo. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a team focusing on videogames localization. Passionate about providing high quality translations and turning them into great gaming experience, you will be part of this adventure, translating world-renowned games.

The role is to translate from Japanese into English, a variety of game content: seasonal and permanent content, as well as offer cards, informational popups, and just about anything else the player might read in-game! This role requires excellent language skills, creativity and a passion for Games.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Translate, review & proofread content from Japanese into English to a high-quality standard.
  • Create, review and maintain style guides, glossaries and translation memories.
  • Fix linguistic bugs reported by the testing team.
  • Provide support and linguistic feedback to internal & external teams - Assist with Review Reports and QA reports as needed.

Requirements

  • 2+ years’ experience as an in-house video games linguist or freelancer.
  • Highly proficient in Japanese language - English-Language Proficiency Test C1 / C2 CEFR certification, higher than IELTS 8.0 or equivalent capability.
  • Educational qualification in linguistics - Experience working with Cat Tools - Availability to work exclusively in-house from our Keywords Tokyo studio (〒168-0063 Tokyo, Suginami City, Izumi, 1 Chome−22−19 9F) - Passion for videogames
